BENCH DISASTER

63.25 POINTS, NONE OF THEM USEFUL

Saca Cojones lose by 3.75 while the league’s richest reserve unit watches politely.

Rogers carried Saca Cojones with 25.5 points, but the decisive support remained in reserve.

Declan Rice FC defeated Saca Cojones 64.5-60.75 in the closest matchup of opening weekend, but the decisive figures were stationed away from the contest. Saca left a league-high 63.25 points in reserve and lost by 3.75, an unusually complete demonstration of how abundance can become an administrative problem.

De Cuyper supplied 35 reserve points, Enciso added 14 and Rashford contributed 10. The active lineup instead produced four scores of 1.5 or fewer, including zero from Tielemans and minus-0.25 from Ballard. Rogers kept the challenge alive with 25.5, accounting for nearly 42 percent of Saca’s final total, but received little useful assistance.

Declan Rice FC were hardly fluent. Pickford scored 16 and Guéhi delivered 17.75, while Calvert-Lewin and Watkins combined for zero. Those two defensive performances were enough to secure a win because the opposition’s best work remained ceremonial. Declan Rice FC begin 1-0 after scoring the fewest points of any Week 1 winner; Saca begin with the knowledge that the correct footballers were present, just not in any operational sense.

The Market

▲ Stock Up

7-1 FC. The week’s top score, largest winning margin and nine double-digit starters constitute a persuasive opening statement.

Palmer. Palmer’s 31 points were the best active return in the 146.5-point demolition of Hound Boys FC 🐶.

WhiteCastle United. WhiteCastle scored 132.75 with major contributions across midfield, defence and goal rather than relying on one rescue act.

Shaw claim. Crème Internazionale C.F. claimed Shaw before the weekend, started him and received 11 points in a seven-point win.

▼ Stock Down

Saca Cojones’ reserve allocation. The league-high 63.25 points left in reserve accompanied a 3.75-point defeat. The arithmetic has already filed its complaint.

Hound Boys FC 🐶. A 72-point total and 74.5-point loss left little ambiguity about opening weekend.

The Lion King defence. Maatsen and Hill combined for minus-6.5 as a strong forward performance was squandered.

The Transaction Wire

Shaw · CLAIM · Crème Internazionale C.F. Crème Internazionale C.F. claimed Shaw on 22 August and received 11 starting points in a seven-point victory. Immediate return secured.

Trafford · CLAIM · 7-1 FC 7-1 FC claimed Trafford before Week 1 and started him for 15 points in the league’s biggest win. Sensible business, offensively validated.

Mosquera · CLAIM · Snake Snake claimed Mosquera before the opener and received 10.25 active points during a comfortable victory.

Bobb · CLAIM · Hound Boys FC 🐶 Hound Boys FC 🐶 claimed Bobb and started him for 4.5 points. The move was ordinary; the surrounding 74.5-point defeat was not.

WEEK’S BIGGEST WIN

7-1 FC ARRIVE WITH HEAVY MACHINERY

Palmer leads a 146.5-point opening statement against Hound Boys FC 🐶.

Palmer scored 31 fantasy points as 7-1 FC posted the week’s highest total.

7-1 FC did not merely beat Hound Boys FC 🐶; they doubled them and added another 2.5 points for administrative emphasis. Palmer led the 146.5-72 rout with 31, while McBurnie, Tarkowski, Trafford, Tavernier, Xhaka, Schade, Groß, Ampadu and Gomez all reached double figures.

Hound Boys had useful returns from Tzolakis and Dewsbury-Hall, worth 25 and 18 respectively, but Cash’s minus-5.25 placed immediate strain on a lineup already short of contributors. The 74.5-point margin was the largest of Week 1. For 7-1 FC, the only pressing concern is that opening weekend may have set an offensively inconvenient standard.

DEPTH WINS OUT

WHITECASTLE OPEN EVERY DEPARTMENT

Five major returns turn Slimey’s respectable score into a comfortable defeat.

Slimey FC scored 103.25, a total that would have won three other Week 1 matchups. WhiteCastle United rendered that fact largely decorative by reaching 132.75 through production across the lineup: Hinshelwood scored 28.5, Gvardiol 19.25, Saka and Calafiori 18 each, and Kelleher 17.

Kayode’s 26.25 and Szoboszlai’s 20.5 gave Slimey a credible foundation, while Branthwaite added 14. The difference was distribution. WhiteCastle had six starters above 15 points; Slimey had three above 14. It was less a single decisive blow than a steady accumulation of reasons to stop checking the score.

OPENING-WEEK UPSET

CRÈME WIN WHILE THE FORWARDS LOOK AWAY

Ødegaard and Tzolis rescue an uneven lineup against The Lion King.

Crème Internazionale C.F. won 84-77 despite Gallagher scoring minus-1 and four other starters finishing on five points or fewer. Ødegaard’s 20 and Tzolis’ 18.5 supplied the control, with Shaw adding 11 after arriving by claim during the week.

The Lion King owned the two strongest forward returns: Gakpo scored 23.5 and João Pedro 22. Stach added 18.5, but the defence erased much of that advantage. Maatsen posted minus-5.75 and Hill minus-0.75, while Roefs managed 2.25 in goal. Crème were not dominant, merely seven points less compromised, which remains a legally recognized form of victory.

CONTROLLED AWAY WIN

SNAKE REMOVE THE SUSPENSE

White and Ndiaye lead a balanced 103.75-point victory over Barcola’s Brigade.

Snake’s 103.75-68 win was built on useful scores arriving from nearly every area. White led with 22.75, Ndiaye scored 18, Vuskovic added 11 and Angulo supplied 10.5. Raya’s 10.25 completed a lineup with enough stability to survive quieter returns from Gibbs-White and Palacios.

Barcola’s Brigade received 20 from Cherki and 13 from Lacroix, but no other starter reached double figures. Thiago’s minus-0.5 was the lowest return, while A.Becker produced only 2.5 in goal. The Brigade left just 4.75 points in reserve, so there is little comfort available from alternative history. Snake were simply much better.

The Notebook

The top two scorers meet in Gameweek 2 when WhiteCastle United host 7-1 FC. Opening-week optimism has been scheduled for immediate inspection.

Crème Internazionale C.F. and Snake also meet next, guaranteeing that at least one unbeaten record will encounter paperwork.

Slimey FC’s 103.25 was the highest losing score of the week and exceeded three winning totals. Timing remains undefeated.

Declan Rice FC won with 64.5, the lowest victorious score. Efficiency has rarely looked so much like trespassing.

7-1 FC opened with a 146.5–72 demolition of Hound Boys FC 🐶, a 74.5-point margin. The first table has already acquired a basement, and the paperwork looks regrettably complete.

Saca Cojones left 63.25 points in reserve, more than the 60.75 deployed in defeat to Declan Rice FC. The winning team was apparently available, merely seated elsewhere.

Crème Internazionale C.F. claimed Dalot at 7:58 on Friday evening and dropped him at 6:19 the next morning. His tenure lasted 10 hours and 21 minutes, including what one assumes was a thorough induction.

Crème Internazionale C.F. scored 193 in Gameweek 1 last season, then began this campaign with 84. The 109-point retreat still produced victory, the sort of austerity programme owners can support.

On This Matchweek

2025-26. On this matchweek in 2025-26, Crème Internazionale C.F. beat Slimey FC 193-104.25. Opening gently was not then club policy.

2018-19. On this matchweek in 2018-19, Saca Cojones defeated Barcola’s Brigade 159.25-93. The reserves were presumably less influential.

2020-21. On this matchweek in 2020-21, Snake beat Barcola’s Brigade 153.5-59.5. Six seasons later, the same fixture again declined suspense.

The Weekly Football Folly

A rumpled coach accepts a small trophy while, behind him, three immaculate substitutes sit on a bench with folded arms. Confetti falls only over the coach; the substitutes remain conspicuously untouched.
We won. The 21 points on the bench have asked not to be thanked.

Ask the Gaffer

Dear Gaffer, I left enough points in reserve to win comfortably, while my starters produced several decorative zeroes. Is this bad luck, poor judgment or an innovative attempt to keep the squad humble?

Confused in the Cheap Seats

The Gaffer: It can be all three, but 63.25 reserve points during a 3.75-point defeat is too substantial to hide behind luck alone. De Cuyper scored 35, Enciso 14 and Rashford 10 while the active lineup carried zero from Tielemans and minus-0.25 from Ballard. Squad depth is admirable. Treating it as an exhibition collection is less so. Select the productive players next week and call the improvement tactical evolution.
